Unlimited Seafood @ PHP 299 (KUBO Foodhouse)

What do you get for PHP 299? (USD 6 | AUD 9 | CAD 7.5)
UNLIMITED Buttered vegetables, Sweet and Spicy Shrimp, Calamari, Grilled Pork Belly, Rice and any drink (juice/iced tea) of your choice.

Technically, the package includes liempo (grilled pork belly) and some buttered vegetables, so even those allergic to seafood can indulge here.

KUBO FOODHOUSE offers a variety of great food all at reasonable prices, and its location by the side of the road in Cogon, Palo, Leyte draws customers who want to get away from the busier and crowdier seafood restaurants in Tacloban City.

We’ve been by the place twice, once at lunchtime and another for supper after a long day. Both times we were greeted by their welcoming staff. And both times we’ve had the restaurant to ourselves.

A Kubo is a traditional, usually roughly-made, stilt house made of nipa (palm) or really, whatever wood is available. Filipinos are pretty resourceful like that.

We tried and really enjoyed their UNLI SEAFOOD package. They serve the dishes in small doses to avoid any wastage. Just get their attention and they’ll ply you with any dish you’re running low on. Like every restaurant that serves eat-all-you-can buffets, sharing is strictly not allowed and any leftover will exact a fine (Theirs is fairly cheap, PHP 50 for every 100 grams).

We lost count of the number times we asked the staff to replenish our Calamari.
The ambiance at night is stunning. Too bad we were too hungry to take a lot of pictures.

They’re open for the lunch crowd at 11:00 AM-2:00 PM and resume operations at 5:00 PM-10:00 PM. There are times though when their UNLI SEAFOOD promo is unavailable, so it’s best to call ahead to inquire and/or make reservations if you want: 0926-071-2209
