While Eastern Visayas is primarily an agricultural region, we still contribute to the country’s aquaculture industry, particularly Northern Leyte and Samar.
From these fishermen, we come up with a variety of seafood…and the creative ways to preserve and partake them; namely in chips form.

We Filipinos have our very own palate on chips. We do have the usual potato and corn variety produced by Filipino companies, but we tend to favor the bold and sometimes out-of-the-box flavors. We find ways of gleaning out a particular taste and trying to bottle it up (or in this case: bag it up) in a different package.

We give you; Shrimp Chips. Not to be confused with the kropek (story for another post, maybe? Let us know if you want us to do a story on this!), of course. Joedy’s Pasalubong Center have their very own version of this, with their raw materials coming from Samarnon fishermen.
It’s definitely something to try as a healthier alternative with its nacho-like texture and true prawn flavor.
